A Day Not To Be Missed

The Caledonian Marts Premier Show and Sale proved itself a "not to be missed occasion" yet again, with a flying trade for a great show of calves. The trade was topped at £9500 (centre record) for the reserve champion Ginger Bread,  a 460kg char hfr from James McLaren, Murrayshall. She later sold to M Alford, Foxhill Farm, Devon.

We had a tremendous day taking the Overall Champion with our 455kg Lim x steer  " A Buck Or Two" by Fedneyhouse Dapper.  He sold for £2600 to Jason and Sarah Wareham, Sussex. 

Our top price was for our 475kg BBx heifer by Bringlee Volkawagon. She was Champion British Blue sired animal and later sold for £3200 to Donald Morrison, Kinlochbervie.

Placed second in his class behind the champion, "Jack Flash", a 455kg Limx steer by Fedneyhouse Dapper later sold for £3000 to June Dowie, Balluskie.

  • £1600 for a 430kg Limx steer to J Patterson, Stoneykirk.
  • £1300 for a 255kg BBx heifer to W Peters, Monzie.
  • £1150 for a 320kg Limx heifer to S Dunn, Stirling,
  • £1140 for Champion pen of 4 heifers scaling 430kgs to W Dandie, Learielaw.
  • £1280 for Champion pair of heifers scaling 480kgs to McAlister, West Thomaton.
  • 14 store cattle aver. 411kg, 383p/kg, 1577per head
