Thrilling Day At Spring Show

(February 24, 2010)
We had a fantastic outing to the Royal Northern Spring Show at Thainstone giving us our best result ever at this event.
Thriller, an 18 month heifer bought from Dermott & Gareth Small, Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, won the Supreme Championship for us, she will now be kept for breeding.  We also had the Reserve Champion and Reserve Heifer, this was won by our 8 month old 344kg Limousin cross heifer by Craigatoke Butch.  She later sold for £3,800 to Wilson Peters, Monzie.
We also won the Steer Championship with a 9 month old 400kg Limousin stot, also sired by Craigatoke Butch.  He later sold for £3,000 to Paton, The Spott, Glen Prosen.
Other calves sold to £1800 for the best Belgian Blue sired calf, this heifer also sold to Wilson Peters, Monzie.  She was sired by Netherwood Andy Pandy.
We had further sales of £1300 and £1150 for 8 month old Limousin heifer and a 9 month old stot both sired by Butch.  They sold to Gordon Simpson, Huntly, for further showing.
All in all it was one of our most successful days ever with 5 firsts, a second and two thirds out of the 8 calves exhibited.
